The Record Setting Jump Of Felix Baumgartner – Red Bull Stratos

WOW! Just WOW! I’m going to go ahead and say it. Watching Felix Baumgartner ascend in the Red Bull Stratos Capsule to over 127,000 feet and take that jump from the edge of space is the coolest thing that I have seen thanks to the Internet. It got me excited about the next phase of our relationship with space and what lies ahead as the privatization of space travel and exploration becomes more of a reality. If you missed it I would stay tuned to the Red Bull YouTube Channel. Also, keep your eye out for an upcoming BBC documentary on today’s incredible jump.

**UPDATE**According to the press conference from Red Bull Mission Control this afternoon Felix Baumgartner jumped from an altitude of 128,100 feet, experienced a freefall lasting 4 minutes and 20 seconds, and reached a maximum velocity of 833.9 miles per hour! That is Mach 1.24! He broke the sound barrier without the use of a plane!

Below you can check out a few screen captures that I snagged while watching the live jump today and a video from the last test jump which was from just over 96,000 feet a couple of months ago.

Congratulations to Felix Baumgartner and the entire Red Bull Stratus Mission Crew! Simply Amazing!
